Girls Weekend

It's been years since my college roommate Jenni and I had some one on one time. I decided to take a weekend and head to Nebraska to make that happen! Gavin came with me and got spoiled at Grandma and Grandpa's!

I got into town Friday night and had a quick dinner with my parents and then headed to Jenni's house. We got in our jammies, had some snacks, some drinks, and curled our hair and chit chatted. We went to bed early and slept in late!

On Saturday we headed to Kearney and Jenni got a new tattoo and I was there for moral support. 12 years ago we got our first tattoos together, so it was a little reminiscent!

Then we picked up Gavin and headed to Skeeter Barnes for lunch to see my friend April.

After lunch, our friend Kristin got into town from Omaha and we shopped for a few hours, then headed back to the house to relax, paint our nails, and get ready or dinner. We had dinner at Thunderhead Brewery, which has my favorite pizza, then headed out for a few drinks.

It was the perfect girls weekend. We are all moms and its not very often that we take time for ourselves, away from the kids, for some good girl time. I really enjoyed it!!

He's back!

Our happy boy is back. Not only that, his appetite is back! Yay!

Gavin and I are heading to Nebraska tomorrow. I'm going to spend some time with my friend Jenni and Gavin is going to spend some time with his grandma, grandpa, aunts and uncle. He will be spoiled for sure! Pics to come!

Haircut!

We were long overdue and I felt like people were judging me about how long and out of control Gavin's hair was...so Steve got a hair cut this morning, and then so did Gavin.They look so cute together! Gavin definitely got his daddy's hair.

Boy's Best Friend

This is Charlie's favorite spot in the house. He can go see what's going on outside and protect our house.

We were in the other room and found Gavin this way, helping his puppy stand guard. So precious!

Still Sick

We've had a long week over here. Gavin has been the most sick he's ever been with a horrible cough, runny nose, swollen eyes, no appetite and no sleep for any of us!

Luckily he's a very sweet and cuddly sick boy, not a whiny crabby one. But that makes it even more sad. He's been breaking our hearts. Steve stayed home Monday and Friday with him, and I stayed home Tuesday. He went to the doc and while there's not much they could do for him, it was determined its the flu.

He's feeling better today, if we could just kick this cough.

We are hoping to finally get his crazy long curly hair cut tomorrow, but we will see how he's feeling. :)

Sick Baby

My little boy has a 102.9 fever and diarrhea. Please pray that he's better ASAP! Despite his symptoms, he's still smiling.

That's "Hot"

Paige likes to play "Subway Surfers" on the iPad. If you've never heard of it, be glad because both Steve and Paige have an addiction. :)

You collect coins as you run thru the subways and try not to get hit by a train.

You can use the coins you collect to buy new characters to be. Paige was explaining how the game works to me, because I never play it. She was telling me which characters she wanted to buy.

"I like Tasha because she's really hot."

Steve and I looked at each other and both said "huh?"

She repeated, "She's really hot."

We both tried to contain our laughter and were puzzled, as we have never heard her describe people as hot.

I asked, "what do you mean?"

She looked at us like we were dumb. "Like sweaty? Her stomach is showing!"

Duh, guys. She must be hot to be wearing such little clothes!

These kids crack me up. So innocent!

Bath Time?

As sissy was taking a bath last night, Gavin decided he would join her. Fully clothed. Jumped right in. Crazy kid.

Hard to tell in the pic, but his pants and socks are completely soaked. Luckily he went feet first instead of head first.

Sleepover

Steve's work holiday party was last night, so we headed downtown to Comedy Works. It was hilarious and I was crying from laughing so hard at one point!

Gavin got to go stay at my friend Kami's house, with his buddy Jack. Jack is 2 months older than Gavin and they have so much fun together. Here's a link to a video of their dinner conversation. It's very short but absolutely adorable, so check it out!

Girls Christmas

I forgot in all the birthday excitement to post about our 10th Annual Girls Christmas!

April, McGee, Irish, Shiloh and I started exchanging gifts 10 years ago when we were poor college students and couldn't afford much. We all worked together at Skeeter Barnes, a restaurant in Kearney, and instead of buying a gift for everyone, we drew names. As the years have gone on, we have endured moves, babies, marriages, sickness, and disagreements but have always stuck together.

This year we switched it up and set a ten dollar limit and bought our favorite things. It was tough to stay in the budget, but it was fun! We quickly exchanged our gifts before heading out to celebrate.

We got nail polish, drinks, creamer, candles, pens, sharpies, wine, a coaster, dog treats, lip gloss, an earring holder, and more. I cherish these memories with my girls and am confident there will be many many more girls Christmases!

Home Sweet Home

We made it safe! We had a great week in Texas. We had a lot of rain, but didn't let that stop us... Good food, Dave and Busters, trampoline, Steve's birthday celebration, rang in the new year, Gavin got a fat lip at the park, and we got to see the Gulf of Mexico! Enjoy the pics!
