Mother's Day

What a great weekend!

Friday night we babysat for my friend Kami and Justin's boys, Jack and Luke. Jack is a couple months older than Gavin, and Luke is 6 weeks old! It was great to hold a baby again, and the boys had fun as always.

Saturday Gavin and I had our normal mommy/son day as Steve was at work. We ran some errands, took our afternoon nap, and did a little cleaning. He's such a great companion. So entertaining. Saturday night Steve and I had date night and went and saw 42. It's a movie about Jackie Robinson and I recommend it!

This morning my boys woke me up with some gifts (a Breville juicer, two cups for my juice, a card, flowers, artwork from daycare with Gavin's hands and a painting he did for a big frame that we have in his room!), then, we went to breakfast and church. After church we went to Sprouts to stock up on veggies and fruit for my new juicing toy, and spent a large part of the beautiful afternoon outside! We grilled steaks for dinner and it was a perfect day.

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms, especially my mom, who is my best friend!

This Place is a Zoo!

Last weekend my friend Irish and her husband and two little boys came to visit so we had a houseful!

On Saturday we took them to the zoo! I had been dying to take Gavin since his birthday trip was snowed out...and with Miles' birthday coming it was the perfect time!

Party Time!

Gavin had a Little Einsteins themed party this year.

I had his invite made on Etsy. His banner was made by my friend Kristin, who made my baby shower banner and his first birthday banner. His goodie bags I made out of leftover invitations. The cake I found online and had a cake shop near me recreate it...if you look close you will see that Gavin is inside the rocket too! His little shirt is from Etsy.

I chose blue and red as the color theme and bought some blue and red candy, table cloths and balloons to match his shirt, cake, bags and banner.

We served his favorite snacks in addition to his cake; Pirate Booty, apple sauce, animal crackers, a veggie tray, and cookies.

We had a great turnout with over 10 kids and 20 adults!

He got a ton of stuff...lots of sports gear and outdoor toys. He ended up sitting and playing the most with the party favors I bought...little instruments to match the Little Einsteins theme. The house was a complete disaster afterwards and we were exhausted!

He was a happy boy and it was great to see everyone! Here are some pics!

Gavin's Two!

Steve and I planned to take yesterday off and spend some quality time with our little man by going to the zoo. Snow coming, scratch that. The aquarium. Lots of snow coming, scratch that. Just the three of us at home playing. Blizzard coming, scratch that!

Paige ended up having a snow day too! We all just hung out at home all day and the poor boy didn't have the best day. He was a little sick and congested when he woke up so it was straight to a warm bath. Then we had some Krispy Kremes. They were so hopped up on sugar they managed to get all kinds of bumps and bruises. They decided to wash Gavin's hands without our help and tumbled and scratched his face up. It was quite the day!

He did have fun opening a few presents and having spaghetti and cake though!

As I put him to bed I told him the story of the day he was born and we snuggled and I cried a little for my sweet baby who isn't such a baby anymore. Happy birthday to my little boy. Even though it wasn't what we had planned, at least we were all together.

Gavin's Stool

I wanted to give you a closer look at the stool Gavin got from Grandpa Terry. Very special! Not sure if you can see the detail on the sides, but they are helmets with the Hawks and Huskers logos on them!

Celebrations

We headed to Kearney this weekend again! Gavin's 2nd birthday is on Tuesday so my family had a little meal/cake celebration for him. He chose chicken and rice for his grandma to make...he loves rice! She also made him a cake.

He received a little grill with hot dogs, hamburgers, and tools to cook them with from my mom. Terry made him a stool now that he's potty training. He spent a ton of time on it and made it so special! It's a Hawkeye/Huskers stool and we all love it and will keep it forever.

Michelle and April also came to celebrate and brought him a flashlight, band aids and a new book! Jenni got him a pizza making puzzle.

On Saturday we celebrated Jenni's 30th birthday by going to the horse races in Grand Island all day and then dinner and drinks that night. We had a ton of fun, but as always it went by so quickly and we are all exhausted now!

Steve and I are taking Tuesday off to celebrate just the three of us by going to the aquarium. We wanted to take him to the zoo but the weather isn't going to cooperate. He will still love it! Then next Sunday is his Little Einsteins themed party! Stay tuned!
